Graduate recruitment specialist GTI Recruiting Solutions, part of Group GTI, has reached the final of the Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) Awards 2020 for inclusive recruitment practices. The business’ recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) team was nominated for the finals of an award, despite being one of RIDI’s newest members.
The RPO team is part of GTI Recruiting Solutions and specialises in the attraction, assessment, engagement and retention of early careers talent. It has a long history of driving fair and inclusive recruitment and practices, but only formally joined RIDI in September 2019.
The RIDI Awards celebrate employers and recruiters who are breaking down barriers for people with disabilities who are seeking employment. GTI’s RPO team made it to the final six for the ‘getting started’ award, which recognises organisations that have just begun their journey to becoming disability confident.
Hannah Harrison, business director of GTI Recruiting Solutions, said: ‘As newcomers to RIDI, we were obviously delighted to be recognised for the work we have done. We have always been passionate about delivering fair and inclusive recruitment processes and it’s great to be formally recognised.’
GTI’s RPO team was nominated for its work in delivering inclusive recruitment practices; speaking at disability panels; taking part in disability group forums and attending specialist events to increase understanding; writing insight articles on recognising the challenges; and supporting GTI’s own employees in areas such as flexible working and reasonable adjustments.
‘The RIDI Awards are a great opportunity to show the fantastic work being carried out across industries, build connections with like-minded companies, and provide encouragement to others to begin their disability confident journeys if they haven’t already. Showing inclusivity in the workplace is so important in helping to break down barriers,’ added Harrison.
As a RIDI member, GTI can nominate other organisations and is pleased that two of its clients and partners have also reached the final in different awards categories. EmployAbility, for example, has been shortlisted within the ‘disability specialist’ category in recognition for proactively advertising opportunities to disabled students, its in-depth conversations with students to determine the most suitable adjustments for their situation, arranging insight events and mentor programmes – and also running a workshop for GTI RPO on best practices.
On hearing of the nomination, Tab Ahmed, founder and CEO of EmployAbility said; ‘I am thrilled to have been nominated by GTI for our work on levelling the playing field for neurodiverse and disabled students and graduates. It means a lot to my team to see recognition for our work. It means even more that the efforts of organisations such as GTI, in collaboration with us, can make the difference in ensuring success for talented disabled students. Every little step helps and I hope this will bring disability inclusion to front of mind for many more employers.’
Hannah Harrison added: ‘We are aware that we are only at the start of our journey. The great benefit of being part of an organisation like RIDI is that we have a network to share best practice, as well as more formal support. Our learning in this area will always be evolving. It’s now about using our reach in the market not only to provide a great and inclusive service to our customers, but also to continue developing our own internal culture too.’
The RIDI Awards will take place on 3 December 2020.
