This month’s unmissable advice

The TARGETjobs team has been busily writing away and we have lots of advice to help your students at this time of the year. Gamification is one of the latest recruitment trends, with employers such as Citi, Network Rail and Vodafone introducing it to their selection processes. We have interviewed employers to find out why they use it, how students can be successful and why points don’t always mean prizes in ‘The graduate job hunter's guide to gamification’.

We’ve written another feature that addresses one of the main fears of interview candidates: what should you ask – and what shouldn’t you ask – your interviewers? And, of course, we have plenty of advice on tackling all aspects of an assessment centre and the etiquette of accepting and declining job offers.
Planning is well under way on our publications

We never underestimate how much students and careers advisers value our range of TARGETjobs and TARGETpostgrad titles, along with The Guardian UK 300, and we’ve begun planning our 2018 publications. We are talking to recruiters to help craft our most up-to-date advice in these uncertain times and we have also been holding focus groups and student surveys to get their thoughts on how we can continue to provide the best advice. Look out for the results on campus next September, but in the meantime you can download this year’s editions from TARGETjobs.
On-campus activities

Having now completed a series of six regional PG Fairs, our on-campus activity is coming to an end for the time being, allowing us to focus on planning for our next run of events. The next few months will see the search begin for a new team of recent graduates, who will be responsible for visiting freshers’ fairs and careers fairs throughout Autumn. We will also be planning our timetable, buying in merchandise and doing everything we can to make our busy season run as smoothly as possible.

Our trendence team are busy pulling together the results of the most recent survey, and will be visiting some universities over summer to share their findings.
TARGETjobs events

With the year coming to a close we wanted to say a big thank you for all your involvement with TARGETjobs events thus far. This academic year, the team have delivered more than 25 bespoke events and we are getting all fired up for our award season over the coming months.

We had a huge response from you this year for the 2017 Undergraduate of the Year Awards. We had over 3,000 students apply from over 150 different universities across the UK so thank you very much for all your help! We will be announcing the shortlisted students by the end of this month so watch this space if any of your students have made it through to the Grand Final in April!

This is the first year that we ran ICAEW 100 and we had a great response from candidates up and down the country! The grand final will be taking place on the 17 March 2017 where one lucky candidate will be announced as the winner and be on their way to Bogotá!

This success would not be possible without the help and support we receive from university careers services and departments, so thank you very much!
