International Women’s Day 2019

Friday 8 March marks International Women’s Day 2019 – and we’re celebrating this brilliant event all week by showcasing fantastic women who have made amazing strives in their careers, culminating at our Future Female Engineers event taking place at Network Rail’s HQ in Milton Keynes.

We’ll be hearing from past Undergraduate of the Year winners, our previous event attendees and current graduates at organisations across the country. They’ll be telling their stories about how they’ve started their careers and sharing some top tips to #BeatYourTARGET this year. To get involved with our celebrations for International Women’s Day, make sure to:

Remember to use the hashtags #IWD2019 and #BeatYourTARGET between 4 and 8 March to let us know how you’re celebrating International Women’s Day this year.

Commercial savviness: it makes students stand out from the crowd

Commercial awareness isn’t so much a skill, as a way of thinking and employers tell us that they value it highly in graduate recruits, particularly during this uncertain economic and political climate. So, in our newly expanded guide to commercial awareness, we explain what being commercially aware means, give tips on how to develop commercial awareness, and advise on demonstrating commercial thinking during graduate recruitment processes – all the way from online aptitude tests to typical commercial awareness interview questions to assessment centre case study exercises. It is a hugely practical guide to what can be an overwhelming careers advice topic.

The top law firms, as ranked by trainees

We know that students are putting more and more importance on the conditions and ethics of the workplace when choosing a potential employer. For our law sector, TARGETjobs Inside Buzz asked approximately 500 trainee solicitors working at 36 UK law firms to rate their own firm's culture, training, diversity, green initiatives and more. This is a treasure trove of information for those considering a law degree, but also offers administrators, teachers and careers advisers some sneaky insights into what their students might be going through in the next couple of years.

UK students share their career aspirations with Trendence research!

For the 10th year running, Trendence has conducted one of the largest nation-wide student surveys looking at career paths after university.

This year we had nearly 75,000 responses from 127 universities. We use this information to help careers services gain insight into the decision-making of their students, detailing:
How their students access careers information
Their expectations after university
How well-prepared they are for the labour market compared to graduates from other universities

We’re looking forward to sharing our findings this year; check our LinkedIn for updates on new research projects.
