October’s IT’s not just for the boys! event – sponsored by Deloitte for the second successive year – was a resounding success.  The careers event brings female students together with recruiters so they can further understand the benefits, rewards and challenges of the IT industry.  The event’s aim is to support the demand for more female undergraduates within the technology sector.

Deloitte, the professional services firm, is confirmed as the IT’s not just for the boys! event programme partner for the second year.  The careers event supports the demand for more female undergraduates within the technology sector. It places successful female students face-to face with recruiters so they can further understand the benefits, rewards and challenges of the industry.  

The event, now in its 6th year, has attracted thousands of female students and a record number of businesses dedicated to shaping the recruitment landscape.
IT’s not just for the boys! is offered to students four times a year, with over 30 recruiters involved. The six key features of the programme have been honed to make it even more successful in attracting and engaging female students. These include:

  • 53% of parents felt they were the biggest influence on their children’s post A-Level education and career choices – more than their child’s friends and careers advisers
  • 79% of parents felt that their child did not have a clear idea of what they wanted to do after finishing education
  • Over three quarters of parents felt that extra-curricular activities were just as important as academic activity

GTI Media (publishers of TARGETjobs City & Finance) and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have agreed a partnership for the upcoming event, ACCA Advantage, the virtual careers event for graduates and university students interested in finance, accountancy and business. 

The event, which takes place on 23 and 24 September, will feature over 50 employers and recruitment agencies, with over 300 live opportunities including entry level accounting and finance vacancies, graduate schemes and internships.

TARGETjobs will work in tandem with experienced ACCA members to provide all online attendees with career planning advice as well as in-depth information about the profession and range of sectors featured within ACCA Advantage event.
