An employer’s guide to the new GCSE grading system

Students anticipating their GCSE results in a matter of weeks will be the first to have their English literature, English language and maths results graded from 9–1.

Yet, despite coming into imminent effect, recent research has shown that over a third of UK employers are unaware of this change, while only 28% understood the grading system.

A lot of questions have therefore been raised about how the grading reform will affect both students and employers.

This week, the annual Guardian UK300 publication announced the top 300 most popular employers, as voted by 62,814 students in early 2017.

Top university students recognised at the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year awards

Now in its eighth year, the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year awards continues to recognise and celebrate the best student talent in the UK.

Instead of leaving the library and wrapping up their studies for the weekend, 120 excited students gathered at East Wintergarden in Canary Wharf last Friday afternoon, for the announcement of the winners of the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year annual competition.

International Law firm Allen & Overy win ‘Graduate employer of the year’ at the TARGETjobs Awards, in addition to winning ‘Most popular graduate recruiter in law’, ‘Best innovation in student recruitment’ and ‘Best work experience programme’. Newcastle University took home the new award for ‘Best university employability strategy’.

The Grosvenor House on Park Lane, London was host last night to the thirteenth annual TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards, the largest early talent recruitment event in the UK.
