Universities to get more recognition at the TARGETjobs Awards 2017
Wednesday, February 1, 2017

For the first time, the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards – the most celebrated early careers recruitment awards in the UK – have created a new award exclusively for universities.

The best university employability strategy award, sponsored by The Army, celebrates the achievements being made by higher education institutions to ensure that their undergraduates are equipped to achieve their best potential when searching and applying for graduate roles.

Simon Rogers, GTI Director said,

“In the student recruitment space, the efforts to engage future employees tend to be focused on employers. However, the significant foundational work universities and their careers service undertake to prepare students for employment often goes unsung. This year, the TARGETjobs awards are casting a spotlight on those institutions that go above and beyond to prepare their students. We hope that this in turn raises more awareness of the fantastic work and innovation that goes into ensuring students have the very best prospects after graduation.”

A spokesperson from the Army Careers office said,

“The Army is delighted to be part of this new award recognising the great work of the career services. Supporting young people and preparing the students for the world of work is essential as they transition from education to employment. We hope that the award is well supported by the career services as it will provide a great opportunity for showcasing the superb work they do.”

Held at London’s Grosvenor House, the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards attracts an audience of well over a thousand recruiters, agencies, universities and professional bodies who gather each year to witness over 30 awards being given to the UK’s top employers, as voted for by a poll of almost 100,000 students.

Winners of the 2016 awards, hosted by Jack Whitehall, included The Army, Barclays, Cancer Research UK, Google, J.P. Morgan, Lidl UK, National Grid and L'Oréal. The climax of the evening was the Graduate Employer of the Year Award, won by Enterprise Rent-a-Car.

The TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards 2017 will be hosted on 30 March.

Universities wishing to submit an entry for the award can do so here before the closing date on 24 February.
