GTI, organisers of the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards, is delighted to announce Clifford Chance as the headline partner for the 2018 event, with National Student Pride.
Clifford Chance, one of the world’s largest law firms and member of London’s ‘Magic Circle’, has long been a champion of LGBT employees, evidenced by its fourth-place ranking in the annual Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2017 and its ‘Arcus Allies’ programme, which supports LGBT colleagues throughout the firm.
Clifford Chance is also a gold sponsor of the annual National Student Pride festival, and has eagerly decided to partner with National Student Pride as the headline sponsors of the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards 2018. They hope to raise awareness of the festival across all graduate career sectors.
‘We’re beyond delighted to have Clifford Chance and National Student Pride on board,’ said Simon Rogers, director at GTI.
‘This brings something new and significant to the Awards: a chance to really shine a spotlight on the importance of supporting LGBT students and graduates throughout their early careers. Not only will we be partnering with these two great institutions at the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards, we will also be working with them to raise awareness of National Student Pride directly among the more than one million students in our TARGETjobs community.’
Laura Yeates, head of graduate talent at Clifford Chance, said:
‘As a sponsor of National Student Pride for over four years, we’re excited to be able to take our involvement in this fantastic event a step further. We know that people perform better when they can be themselves and we recognise that creating an inclusive workplace is not only the right thing to do, but is also crucial to our success. This partnership highlights our ongoing commitment to raise our profile as an LGBT employer of choice that is dedicated to recruiting and supporting diverse talent.
‘We’re delighted that our partnership with TARGETjobs will also give us a phenomenal reach across all university campuses, so that we can encourage awareness and attendance of National Student Pride among the LGBT student community.’
Tom Guy, founder of National Student Pride, said:
‘I always say to students, no matter what your dream job is, find somewhere that appreciates exactly who you are. Being able to be out as LGBT+ at work is so important. Just like our event, these awards champion organisations and people who want to empower and inspire young LGBT+ people – and that’s why we are so excited to be involved. It is also a fantastic opportunity to enhance our existing relationship with Clifford Chance, who continue to prioritise and deliver diversity in the workplace.’
Celebrating its 14th year as the largest, most influential graduate and entry-level recruitment awards in Europe, the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards attracts an audience of well over a thousand recruiters, agencies, universities and professional bodies. Each year they gather to witness more than 30 awards being given to the UK’s top early careers employers, as voted for by a poll of almost 100,000 students.

National Student Pride is an annual weekend festival held in February for students from across the UK. In 2017 more than 1,700 students from 170 universities and colleges attended the event, while more than 35,000 joined our digitally streamed panels for a weekend of discussion aimed at empowering young LGBT people to feel comfortable in their identity. Mixing debates, cinema screenings, a graduate recruitment fair, exhibitions, social events and workshops, our event is the largest culmination of LGBT student and graduate talent in the UK. Entering our thirteenth year, National Student Pride 2018 will be held on the weekend of 9–11 February, which will be our fifth year at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone campus. Our careers fair brings together 70+ organisations, and we are proud that our sponsors return year after year, EY having been our headline sponsor for the past eight years. Alongside the careers fair we have breakout sessions including a mock assessment centre run by IBM, EY, Clifford Chance, Thomson Reuters, GE Capital and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, while in 2017 Google also ran a Digital Marketing workshop. Our debate and workshop stages run parallel to the careers fair, where we tackle topical and challenging discussions including on our main stage such diverse themes as mental health, coming out, homelessness and trans issues. BBC Newsnight’s Evan Davis, an ambassador for National Student Pride, regularly anchors panel discussions, with past panellists including Will Young, Trans activist Paris Lees, Radio 1’s Adele Roberts, Olly Alexander of Years & Years, Owen Jones, Lord Waheed Alli, Oscar winning writer Dustin Lance Black, Stella Creasy MP, Caroline Lucas MP and BBC Newsreader Jane Hill.
